If Adam and Eve could have eaten from the Tree-of-Life after they sinned, humans could have avoided death forever! Why didn’t they do that?
Genesis 2:22 shows an interesting fact about the love of God. This is right after Adam and Eve had eaten from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and there “light” had gone out.
God said, “The Man has become like one of us, capable of knowing everything, ranging from good to evil. What if he now should reach out and take fruit from the Tree-of-Life and eat, and live forever? Never—this cannot happen!” (MSG)
Notice that after eating from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam and Eve could have then eaten the fruit of the Tree of Life.
This would have made them (humans) live forever, not having to ever experience death. That sounds good, right?
The problem? We would have had to live in this fallen and twisted state that we find ourselves in now for all eternity!
I don’t want to experience death, but I do want to experience the fullness that God intended for us to experience.
The only way for that to happen was for the bitter taste of death to reign until Jesus could come and redeem us back to perfection in Him, giving us the choice to rebirth our spirits into new life!
Always remember that the seemingly easier route, just like eating from the Tree of Life, is not always the best one for us.
Trust in the promise that your Creator loves you!
Put your life in the hands of God! He will always do the right thing for you, even if it means sending His only Son, Jesus to a horrible death!
